Apron Heaven

So last September, I went to a wedding, but I was too broke to give the groom and bride a decent wedding gift. So I decided instead to make something for them. Most of the time I spent with them has been over at their place when they've invited me to a delicious dinner. The groom is an amazing cook and the bride is a wonderful hostess. So I thought custom-made aprons were a perfect choice.

The first one I did was the groom's. I wanted to make it manly, functional, but still nice-looking. I went with the fabric that I found in the upholstery section. I think the  trim on it looks really nice. I gave it a little loop for holding grill utensils or hand towels. . I made one big pocket stitched it down the middle, so it's really two pockets. I made sure the  print on the pocket and the apron matched up so it didn't look so homemade.

Now for the bride's apron!
I took a pattern out of an awesome apron book. For her, I wanted to make it really girly. I also wanted to mix prints and use lots of trim. This one took much longer to make and I had to redo a lot of it. It was worth it though. I finally made something that looks store-bought. My mother always said you have to take pride in your work and she was right. I don't think I've ever made anything that looks as good as this. Hooray!!
